Do you have a couple million dollars sitting around collecting dust? Then you just might have a shot at some of these multi-million dollar domain names! We’re counting down the top 10 most expensive domain names in Internet history.

#10: Slots.com – $5.5 Million

In 2010, Slots.com was listed for sale in a SnapNames auction. The auction concluded without a bid reaching the reserve, but domain management service Moniker worked with both parties to close the deal. In the end, Bodog Brand ended up buying the domain for $5.5 million. On his blog, Bodog founder Calvin Ayre called it, “one of the best deals I’ve ever made.”

#9: Israel.com – $5.88 Million

An unidentified buyer picked up Isreal.com for $5.88 million back in 2004. The domain’s previous owner, Joel Noel Friedman, purchased the domain in 1994 so no one else would be able to misuse it… money well spent!

#8: Beer.com – $7 million

Who doesn’t love a nice cold brewsky? Apparently Thought Convergence, LLC loved it so much they purchased the domain Beer.com for a cool $7 million in 2004.

#7: Diamond.com – $7.5 Million

Online Jewelry Retailer Ice.com bought Diamond.com from Odimo Inc. back in 2006 for $7.5 million (plus another $2 million for Odimo’s jewelry inventory).

#6: Business.com – $7.5 Million

eCompanies Ventures picked up Business.com in 1999 for a then-record setting $7.5 million. The domain’s previous owner, Marc Ostrofsky, domain name investor and New York Times Bestselling author of Get Rich Click!: The Ultimate Guide to Making Money Online, picked it up for a measly $150,000 in 1997 – talk about a good return on investment!

#5: Porn.com – $9.5 Million

We all know that the Internet is one big porn machine, so it should come as no surprise that the domain Porn.com sold for nearly $10 million to investment firm MXN Limited in an all cash-transaction back in 2007.

#4: Fund.com – $9.99 Million

In 2008, Clek Media purchased Fund.com for $9.99 million in an all-cash transaction. At the time of purchase, this multi-million dollar sale was a world record. If you have $10 million in cash laying around, you can pick up Fund.com this September when it expires.

#3: Sex.com – $13 Million

They say sex sells, and apparently it’s true! Clover Holdings Ltd purchased the domain Sex.com in 2010 for a whopping $13 million. The sale was even recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records.

#2: Insure.com – $16 Million

Vertical marketing and online media giant QuinStreet purchased Insure.com in 2009 for the paltry sum of $16 million.

#1: PrivateJet.com – $30 Million

Nations Luxury Transportation, LLC picked up the domain PrivateJet.com this year for a hefty $30 million, making it the most expensive domain name to date. The domain expires on Aug. 6, 2016, so start saving those pennies!
